COMICSMAGAZINES.COM ARCHIVE  IMAGE SERVICE

Our back issue stocks are now available as an image resource service to researchers at a set fee per image & hourly research rate. If you are researching comics for personal use or maybe for a potential publication then our new  image supply / research service could be exactly what you are looking for.  At present all website images are in a low resolution suitable for web use only.  We can now supply high resolution 300 dpi scans on request for researchers.  These images can be from our large website image data base or from material in the archives but not on the website. Images can be from covers or interior pages.  Please let us know what your image requirements are.  If we do not have what you want in our own archive, then we may be able to source it from other collections.   General research on subject can also be undertaken on an hourly fee / images provided basis. As well as our own comic & magazine archive, we also have access to other collections including Vintage Advertising pages. We have our own archive collection of advertising pages from the 1930s to 1980s. Vinyl records.  We have access to 1,000s of vinyl record albums for cover and label scans Please note that our fees are for the use of our archive material and time / costs associated with providing your image or research data.   WE ARE NOT THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS OF ANY IMAGES SUPLIED.  If you plan to use images provided for any publication or commercial use then you MUST  obtain permission for this use from the current copyright holders of this material. PURCHASE OF AN IMAGE DOES NOT PROVIDE COPYRIGHT USE OR ANY PERMISSIONS  FOR IMAGE USAGE BASIC FEES FOR ARCHIVE USE. Hourly research / retrieval rate £60 per hour plus scans if required.  Minimum charge time is 30 minutes. Scans are £10 per scan.  Double pages will usually count as two scans (unless small pages) PAYMENT Payment is in advance of scans being sent. Payment is via Paypal  (preferred) or by cheque. Larger / frequent users can apply to set up a payment account. COMIC AND MAGAZINE COLLECTORS' ASSOCIATE ARCHIVES We are also looking for collectors that can help us with specific requests when needed.

Q. Who can use your research service?

A. Anyone who is conducting research into comics, magazines  or advertising within the publications can use our services.

Q Does purchasing an image scan give me the right to reproduce this scan or to use it commercially?

A. No. Fees paid for research and image scans are for using images from our archives for research purposes  only, and are supplied strictly on a non commerical basis.

Q. Do fees paid for image scans include copyright?

A. No. We are not the copyright owners of any image material provided for research purposes.

Q. If I want to reproduce, print, publish or make other commercial use of any images provided, who must I get permission from ?

A. Permissions for use of images must be obtained from the current copyright holder of any image sources provided.

Q. Can I purchase the magazine or comic outright ?

A. Yes. If the item is on our website for direct sale you can purchase the item.  If the item is not on the website for sale and archive material only, then direct sale is not possible.

Q. Does purchasing the comic or magazine directly give me copyright and usage permissions?

A. No. The same copyright control and usage restrictions apply as to scans supplied.

Q. Can I get a selection of scans to choose from on a subject ?

A Yes. If you tell us what type of images you are looking for and how many scans you require, then we will prepare a presentation of low resolution thumbnail images. In this case you will be charged for the hourly research time  plus a reduced scan fee (variable on job outline - please enquire). All low scan images for presentation will be watermarked with our name.  This watermark will be removed from any higher resolution scans that are purchased.

Q. When I choose images from a presentation, why do I have to pay for them again?

A Your thumbnail images are only scanned in a low resolution 75 / 100 d.p.i. scan at a thumbnail size.  Your purchased scan needs to be re-scanned as a full size 300 d.p.i. scan.

Users of our image archive material are deemed to have accepted the above copyright and usage restrictions of any materials provided. Any mis-use of image material provided is completely against our usage policy and users agree to completely indemnify comicsmagazines.com (or our agents) against any actions or loss caused by the mis-use of any images provided.
