Tarzan Adventures weekly comic ran all through the 1950s and is for many people the best remembered of all the many British Tarzan comics.  The contents were  in black and white and reprinted from United Features Syndicate daily and Sunday stripsstrips.  There was also a back up non Tarzan strip in the comic (again sometimes a United Features Syndicate strip) and a short text stroy of two pages or so.

Tarzan Adventures also featured early writing contributions from a young Michael Moorcock.  Michael Moorcock also went on to edit Tarzan Adventures for a short period when he was 17 years old.  Tarzan Adventures from this period feature early fiction and non fiction works by Michael Moorcock and include his early sword and fantasy hero SOJAN.

COVER DATES ON BRITISH COMICS

Please note that the cover dates on British weekly comics (as with most weekly magazines/periodicals) IS USUALLY NOT THE DATE that the comic was for sale on, but the date usually for Saturday at the end of the week of publication. This was done to give newsagents some time to sell the comic before it was out of date. Most British comics state cleary what day they actually went on sale and this can be seen clearly from the scans.

If you are buying comics for a Birthday or Anniversary gift then it is better to be buying for a specific week rather than an actual date as this in many cases will not be a published date.

STAPLE RUSTING

Please note that like many British comics of the period that this comic frequently suffers from rusting staples.  This rusting leaves small marks on the paper around the staple.  On more severe cases the area around the staple stains and sometimes forms small paper holes around the rusting staple. Always assume some degree of staple rusting on these comics.  More severe rust damage will be noted.

NAME AND ADDRESS ON COMIC

All of these comics have a short abbreviated delivery initials and address marked on them.  This is usually in  light pencil, but sometimes in pen.  These details are usually on the back cover at the top margin.  A few have the information on the front cover.
