TERRIFIC COMIC

 Terrific comic came from the same "Odhams Press" imprint as Wham, Smash, Pow and Terrific.  While it was one of the later comics published in the "Power Comic" line up, it is probably the one that most people remember.  Other comics in this line had a high content of original British strips to begin with but introduced UK reprints of the USA Marvel comics into their pages over time.  This format of introducing Marvel Comics reprints worked so well that Terrific and it's sister comic Fantastic contained mostly Marvel Comic reprints.  For most of us growing up in the 1960s these black & white reprints were our first introduction to Marvel super heroes.  The one thing that everybody seems to remember from Terrific (and Fantastic) is the back page.  This was normally a pin-up page and while it often adapted original Marvel Comics artwork  some of the pin ups were original art.  Legend has it that most of this original pin-up art was by a young Barry Smith.

Please note that as was common with many UK comics that some of these issues have a pencil (sometimes pen ) name  or address on them which is usually on the top front or back cover nargin. This would have been marked on by the original newsagent. This comic was a typical British comic. As usual there is alittle discolouring to the paper over the years and minor little folds etc to the edges of the paper on some comics. All comics  have all however been stored flat over the years and unless noted otherwise are in VG condition (or slightly better). Please note that unless stated otherwise that any free gifts advertised with the comics are not there. They are long gone to wherever these items go to.  COVER DATES ON BRITISH COMICS Please note that the cover dates on British weekly comics (as with most weekly magazines/periodicals) IS USUALLY NOT THE DATE that the comic was for sale on, but the date usually for Saturday at the end of the week of publication. This was done to give newsagents some time to sell the comic before it was out of date. Most British comics state cleary what day they actually went on sale and this can be seen clearly from the scans.   If you are buying comics for a Birthday or Anniversary gift then it is better to be buying for a specific week rather than an actual date as this in many cases will not be a published date.

Tranfer is 6 x 10 inches approx (15 x 25 cms) and is in a nice clean and un-used condition Terrific 1 as a comic itself turns up on regularly, but the transfer is rarely offered for sale.
